Preparation 1: Mix one heaped scoop (25 grams) into a paste with hot textured milk and top up. Serve in a flat white sized cup
Preparation 2: One heaped scoop (25 grams) into milk pitcher, add milk, steam together. Serve in a flat white sized cup
Preparation 3: Make at home as above or in all automatic milk frothers or a magic shaker.
Our Costa Rica cocoa comes from Upala, in the North where over 400 farming families transformed abandoned plantations into thriving, sustainable farms. The cocoa grows there in agroforestry with bananas, hardwood, and other crops – protecting biodiversity while supporting farmers. By supporting Costa Rican cocoa, we contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs), promoting economic growth, environmental conservation, and social empowering – especially for smallholder farmers and women in agriculture. Continued investment in training, processing, access to better market and marketing will further expand opportunities for cocoa farmers in Upala and beyond.
Harvest: Only ripe, healthy pods are harvest in seasons: November – December and April- June
Fermentation: during the season, wet beans are collected biweekly and fermented in 4-tiered wooden boxes for 5 days
Drying: Beans are solar dried in a greenhouse for 10 days
Cocoa paste (beans from Costa Rica), sugar, emulsifier: sunflower lecithin. May contain traces of milk, nuts
